At Shri Ram Global School, Ludhiana, education extends beyond textbooks. Through Danzare la Cultura, our students connected with international peers to explore how folk dances, culinary arts, music and iconic architecture shape community identity.

Working together on Google Drive and Padlet, students celebrated their own traditions while discovering the stories, rhythms and flavours of other cultures.

Born in Punjab's fields during Baisakhi, Bhangra celebrates resilience, community and joy. Students created a comprehensive guide and a step-by-step video demonstration of fundamental movements.

High-energy jumps, rhythmic footwork and phumman shrugs brought the beats of the dhol and tumbi to life.

Students took their peers on a culinary tour of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, exploring coconut, curry leaves and tamarind.

Idli, Dosa, Sambar, Appam and Hyderabadi Biryani illustrated regional variety, alongside the cultural significance of balanced meals served on a banana leaf.

The studies explored the Qutub Minar complex and its rust-resistant Iron Pillar, Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai and the Taj Mahal's marble craftsmanship.

Students also presented the rock-cut Buddhist, Hindu and Jain sanctuaries of Ajanta and Ellora Caves.

What travelled beyond the classroom

Rhythms without borders

Georgian students embraced Punjabi beats; SRGS students learned their folk steps. Khevsuruli and Damat Halayi showed how dance expresses courtship, resolution and community solidarity.

Food as a warm welcome

Partner students studied and prepared Gulab Jamun, exploring dough, frying and rose-cardamom syrup. Comparing it with Pasticciotto, Pelamushi and Baklava revealed a shared language of hospitality.

Shared harvest roots

Students found parallels between Bhangra and Salentine Pizzica: traditions rooted in farming, release from fatigue and the celebration of harvest fertility.

Heritage meets digital discovery

Teachers joined European digital heritage workshops using Europeana.eu. Students saw monuments come alive through digital platforms, video presentations and interactive tools.
